A Shoe In

So, the actual cake.

It's meant to look like shoeboxes. I suppose I could have made the cakes to look like closed shoeboxes, but I just could not work it out in my head. Open, or slightly open shoeboxes seemed to make more sense to me.

This is the white cake. (With a chocolate "cover" because I tend to get confused as to which is which as soon as I frost the cakes. Even though I repeat it to myself about a billion times!)

Here is the chocolate cake. (With a white "cover", durr....)

One regret I have is those blank white spaces you can see between the shoes. I think that I should have filled them in with more fondant "tissue paper".

The "N" on the inside of each shoe is the first inital of the recipient.

I tried to tie the colors of the cake in with the paper that we used to make the shoe favor/decorations. Here is the scrapbook paper pack I bought.

This was such a large and unweildy cake, The Husband had to help me carry it out to the car. This is when I'm cursing the German windy staircases and a big nosey dog who always wants to see what's going on.

So did you guess the goof up with the shoes??

Two left feet!!! I discovered this fact as I was pouring the chocolate for the molds. I tried my best to disguise that fact, I don't even know if I can order a right side.
