As a toddler The Kid loved Nick Jr. shows. Above all was her favorite Oswald. Even I liked Oswald, though I think that it took place in an outpatient reabilitation town. Anyway, once she got older and moved on to other shows I had no idea what was new in the world of Nick Jr.
I guess Ni-Hao Kai Lan started some time after we left the states. I remember seeing ads for it, and though it looked really cute. I liked the whole Asian-ness of it. You don't often see Asian characters in chidren's programming, unless you count the time Oobie went to the Chinese restaurant with Gram-Poo.
Anyway, a Ni-Hao Kai Lan cake for a birthday party.
Kai Lan's head is supposed to be gigantic, but I could not get my hands to make her body smaller than I did here. I just did not seem right.
One of her sidekicks. I didn't look up their names.
I had the hardest time with this name. I kept spelling it wrong. When I got there the mother told me it is "Heaven" backwards. Aaaaaahhh.......I still had a hard time putting the letters on the cake.
And of course I had to use, as Margaret Cho puts it, "That chinky font."
